glór is excited to announce a taster workshop this Sat 14 Dec in Miltown Malbay for a new cross-community dance project to be performed in glór in March 2020.
A ‘Ceili Afro Dabke’ taster dance workshop will take place this Saturday 14 December at Miltown Malbay Community Centre from 1.30pm. All are welcome to participate. Choreographer Catherine Young will lead this workshop which will be a taster for a new dance project in 2020.
We are aiming to recruit approx 40 participants in the spring, including residents from the Direct Provision Centres in Miltown Malbay and Lisdoonvarna. This is a taster workshop so everyone can learn what it’s all about.
The 40 participants selected in the spring will partake in 7 dance workshops which will culminate in a new work performed at glór on Sunday 15th March 2020. The workshops will take place on Saturdays between 2pm-4pm, starting Saturday 25th January. We encourage participants to attend all of the workshops and rehearsals. This is a great way to try something new in your community in spring 2020!
Come along Sat 14 Dec to try it out! For the taster workshop we welcome participants from across the community of Clare – you don’t need to be a pro! The workshop will last 1 hour, and there will be festive refreshments served afterwards.
This project is a partnership between glór, Catherine Young Dance and Clare Immigrant Support Centre and is funded by Creative Ireland.
