Nicholas Ryan-Purcell is a filmmaker from Co. Tipperary. His latest film is called ‘This is Nicholas – Living With Autism’, a documentary about his experiences of growing up in Tipperary with autism and depression. Following its premiere at the 2018 NYC Mental Health Film Festival, This Is Nicholas will screen at glór.

The documentary film chronicles the personal experience of living with Asperger’s Syndrome and autism spectrum disorder but also touches on depression, which was brought on by an early childhood trauma. The story is supported by interviews, old video footage, and photographs from childhood years.

The film runs for 54 mins and will be followed by a Q&A with the film-maker.

‘This Is Nicholas’ won the top prize for the ‘Spirit’ Award in the Foreign Film Category at the 2012 Winter Shorts Film Festival, Somerset, Kentucky USA, and was one of five nominees in the ‘Best Young Filmmaker Under Twenty-two’ category at the 2012 Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival in Schull.
