1st meeting: 19th February, 8.30pm, meetings will happen every 3 weeks (approximately)

On the 35th of May 1931 Conrad and his uncle Ringel stepped into the wardrobe to discover the exciting world hidden, mostly, in Conrad’s imagination.

It’s been 90 years since Erich Kästner’s 35th of May was published, and many of us find ourselves looking for inspiration for creative thinking that does not require leaving our familiar home.  Shall we try stepping into our wardrobes and discovering what awaits on the other side?

Join glór Curator in Residence for a journey to the South Seas together with Ringel, Conrad, and the black horse Negro Caballo.  In this artists’ reading group you will get a chapter to read at home and will be invited to respond creatively in any way you see fit. The group will meet to discuss the chapter and participants will show and discuss their responses, if they wish.

Details and sign-up

The purpose of this is to have an online meeting place to talk about real and fantastical ideas, get inspired and inspire others. We’re also hoping you’ll have some fun. No research background is necessary and the texts will be provided by glór’s Curator in Residence, Moran Been-noon, in advance to each meeting.

This group is open to Clare-based visual artists, but places are limited and each meeting will be filled based on first-come, first served. You do not need to commit to attending more than 1 meeting, but you are certainly welcome to.

About Moran

Moran Been-noon is a Dublin-based visual art curator and practitioner. She is primarily interested in multiplatform group exhibitions, with a commitment to expanded practice. You can find out more about here at MoranB.art.

To sign up email Moran curator@glor.ie with the subject “35th May Reading Group”.

Notes: The chapters will be sent in PDF form and are scans from a book, you will need to either read the texts on the screen or have access to a printer.
