My Nature is a film project created by Alex Gill, Jacinta Sheerin and Maeve Stone, three filmmakers and artists interested in exploring the unique relationship of young people to their environment. The core of this project is to elevate the innate love and connection that children have to nature by allowing their voice full authorship over their contribution to the film, and to remind adults – through these perspectives – of how nature feels when we don’t separate ourselves from it.

My Nature takes place in two parts.

Part 1: Home Filming

When: May 21st – 28th

What: Kids make their own film about the things they love in nature using a camera phone. These 3-5 minute recordings can show us absolutely anything! The more personal the better – it just needs to have their voice and their energy behind it. They film, they narrate, they star!

Where: These recordings are sent to us for editing and uploaded as part of a My Nature film library! This gives the young people an opportunity to see each other’s films and to see their own online.

Part 2: Field trips

When: July 12th – 17th. Participants must be available this week!

What: Kids are split into groups and brought on a field trip to one of 5 incredible locations for a masterclass in biodiversity, cycle maintenance, foraging, farming and forestry. They then direct a professional team to create a short film of what they have enjoyed most in the experience.

Where: These field trips take place in a number of locations around Clare and will have a meeting point of glór Arts Centre for anyone who would like transport.
