Just The Two, a series of intimate traditional music concerts, curated by Paula Carroll, returns this Autumn. It explores the power of the pair in traditional music and song. If the solo voice is where we find the authentic expression of traditional music, then the duo is where we see musical communication at its most creative. When two musicians really understand each other, we witness an almost indescribable ‘flow’ between them. For this series we have invited musicians to perform for us and to tell us about working together musically.
Four pairs will perform monthly from September to December. Dates are Thurs 28 Sept, Wed 25 Oct, Thurs 23 Nov and Thurs 14 Dec. All concerts begin at 8pm.

In the world of traditional music Tony Linnane from Corofin is renowned as a fiddle player of outstanding ability. His distinctive playing has superb fluency and flow, impeccable technique and a wealth of feeling and sensitivity. He is recognised as one of the finest fiddle players in Ireland today. His duet playing over the years with some of the finest exponents of traditional music has delighted critics and audiences alike. It has now been topped off with his first solo album ‘Ceol na Fidle’ (July 2023)

Éamonn O’Riordan grew up in West Limerick. He started playing the tin whistle when he was 7 and the flute at 10 years of age. He learnt a lot of music from West Limerick musicians like the great flute players Donal O’ Sullivan and Francis O’ Connor. He has been living in Ennis for the last 15 years and is a highly sought-after player for his bright, driving, profoundly rhythmic dance music. In recent years his collaboration with Tony Linnane has provided much joy to fans of traditional music.
