The Ballad of the Crimson Warrior: a short film

This short film by Mike Hanrahan is a musical narrative of original songs and traditional tunes in honour of the women and men of the Irish cultural revolution 1890-1922.  The film shows Mike performing with Seána Davey on harp, Norah Constance Walsh on piano, Sive on vocals and Aldoc on whistles and percussion against a backdrop of Mick O’Dea’s artwork of the revolutionary period.  Mike presents his film as part of the Clare Decade of Centenaries programme for Clare County Council History Week funded by the Dept of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Community Strand of their DOC programme.   Mike has contributed to the Clare programme for a number of years with his Clare: Songs of Independence project.  Mike has been at the forefront of Irish music for four decades as a writer, singer and musician with Stockton’s Wing, Ronnie Drew and many more.
