EBCF have a great line up for this event, overseen by Andrea Carter, herself a writer of note. Described by Val McDermid as “crime-writing royalty”, Denise Mina has published many fine novels, with rich storytelling and a clear seam of social history running through them. Her books Three Fires and The Second Murderer came out in 2023. Doug Johnstone became a nuclear physicist but found his true callings were music and writing. His work is varied and touching, with series and standalone books that brim with wit and tenderness. His latest book, The Opposite of Lonely, was published in 2023.  Andrea Mara has always had “dark stories rattling around” in her head and she’s  had great success turning them into layered and unsettling thrillers, including her latest book, No One Saw A Thing.
