The Gallery

glór is home to a wonderful gallery space that presents high-quality exhibitions in a county where visual art is alive and thriving. glór’s policy is to present work in context and to exploit thematic or artistic links between our visual and performance artists. Typically glór presents 5 – 7 exhibitions annually, showcasing artists and makers working nationally and locally in a wide range of media. Work from emerging artists features along with that of more established artists, with a focus on artists whose work reflects the unique landscape and culture of Clare.

Exhibitions of note include The RHA Biennial Drawing Exhibition, (2006); Learning from Art by The National Gallery of Ireland, (2009); Black & Tan by Mick O’Dea PRHA, (2010); the annual Clare Arts Office Embrace Exhibition, and of course our Selects series, curated respectively by Lorraine Wall, John Shinnors, Walter Verling, Seán McSweeney and Mick O’Dea PPRHA.

Other major group exhibitions include CRUX – A Dialogue in Metal, (2017); In Colour, on loan from The Arts Council and AIB, (2011), comprising 20th century Irish artworks from artists including William Leech, Manie Jellet, William Orpen, Martin Gale and Louis Le Brocquy; and the recent open call Halcyon Days exhibition, (2017).
